Singing for Wellness

Find Your Voice and Calm Your Mind

  • Stimulate the Vagus Nerve: Singing activates the vagus nerve through throat vibrations, promoting relaxation and reducing stress.

  • Improve Breathing and Lung Function: Controlled breathing during singing strengthens the diaphragm and increases lung capacity.

  • Boost Mood: Singing releases feel-good chemicals like endorphins and dopamine, helping you feel happier and more connected.

  • Foster Mindfulness: Focus on rhythm, melody, and breath control to stay present in the moment.

Whether through group singing sessions or vocal exercises, singing can help you feel grounded, calm, and joyful while improving both physical and mental health.

Workshops and Classes in Durham and Online

I am excited to offer singing for health workshops and classes both in the Durham (UK) area and online. These sessions are designed to be accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of your singing experience or skill level.
In each class, we will explore various vocal exercises, breathing techniques, and singing practices that promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve mental clarity. Singing in a supportive group setting can also enhance your sense of community and emotional connection.

I currently lead a singing group at St Margaret's Centre in Durham. For more information on how to access St Margaret's Centre, please contact the centre directly.
